About J. Austin Eyer
Austin Eyer grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and began working professionally in television, film, commercials and theatre at the age of seven. After early successes in his hometown, he traveled to New York City where, at the age of 10, he landed his first Broadway show. He played Colin in The Secret Garden. After the show closed, he immersed himself in training and moved to Orlando, Florida to attend the prestigious performing arts school, Doctor Phillips High School. He also appeared in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Games. During his time in Florida, he discovered a knack for choreography, working on events with Disney and Universal. Eyer continued his studies at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts and graduated with honors. Shortly thereafter, he was cast in the National Tour of Evita (with the Original Broadway Creative Team, Hal Prince and Larry Fuller), as well as Original Companies of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas in Boston and St. Paul. In 2006, Eyer was cast in his second Broadway show and made his adult Broadway debut as a Swing in Curtains. Eyer also appeared as a Swing and Prince Eric Understudy in The Little Mermaid. During the runs of those two shows, he made his Off-Broadway debut as the choreographer of Boys Just Want to Have Fun and My Big Gay Italian Wedding. Eyer spent a year with Billy Elliot appearing in both the Touring and Broadway companies. He is currently a Swing in the Broadway production of How to Succeed. Recently he choreographed for the Macy‟s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Vital Theatre Company, and the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Eyer believes firmly in the importance of passing down knowledge and experiences to those who are aspiring to work in theatre. He teaches theatre and dance across the country with organizations like Theatre Arts Center, Broadway Connection, Music theatre Bavaria and NYU. His real home has been CAP21, where since 2003, he has been on faculty working as a teacher, student advisor, and choreographer.
About Lyndy Franklin Smith
Lyndy Franklin Smith hails from Central Kentucky, where she learned to dance under her mother‟s tutelage at Town and Village School of Dance. She found an early love for performing as well as fascination with MGM musicals and decided at the age of 10 that one day she would move to New York City and dance on Broadway. In the meantime, she discovered a love of writing, particularly journalism. Smith found her way to New York via Oklahoma City University where she earned her BA in Dance Performance. While performing with the company at OCU and spending summers working in regional theatre, she also kept up her writing. The Dean of the School of Dance brought her on to coordinate public relations for the department. While preparing press releases and marketing ideas for the dance shows, she also became published in several dance periodicals including Dance Spirit Magazine, On Tap and Dancer Newspaper. After graduation, Smith (then Franklin) began rehearsals for the National Tour of Fosse, which was quickly followed by three seasons with the NYC Company of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and numerous regional productions. In 2006, she made her Broadway debut as a Swing/Understudy in the original cast of the revival of A Chorus Line, and went on to become the Dance Captain. She followed with a turn as a Swing in Broadway‟s The Little Mermaid, as well as an ensemble member in the Detroit Tour Company of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. She and her husband have recently relocated to Kentucky and are back at Town and Village, as Executive Directors and faculty members. They also travel the country working as freelance choreographers, directors and master teachers. She is so proud to watch the next generation find their love for theatre and she hopes to inspire and guide as many as she can along the way.
